I have no words.

I'm totally shocked by this news. Only 61....fuck.

I know that he could be super-controversial but I think it was also well-known that he did a lot to help a ton of artists and I generally liked his production (dude got some of the best drum sounds, in my opinion). I'm glad I got to see Shellac play a number of times and even caught the 4-song Big Black reunion at Touch & Go Records' 25th Anniversary party.

Man, that's a shame, dude was still fairly young and was intent on doing more. Admittedly, I wasn't big on most of the bands that he worked with, but I'm not without sympathy for his cause in pushing for independent music and calling out the recording industry for all the abuse.

Fuck man, I was not ready to see this today. Albini may have been the best producer of all time and his work is legendary. Slint's Spiderland and the untitled EP they put out after it still give me chills. It was always a dream of mine to speak to him someday.
