The site for Delicious Agony Progressive Rock Radio has a strong old-school structure, and the station itself is recommended for those into prog rock.

I can't believe this still exists. The layout is all fucked up now on any widescreen monitor and parts of the background are randomly missing throughout the pages (you sometimes have to highlight the text in order to be able to read it), but holy shit, the amount of info on this one. A legendary fan site from back in the day. I'm amazed it has survived, even in its current sorry shape.

Klaus Schulze has an official website with historic photos, interviews, etc. Despite looking hilariously outdated, it's still being kept up to date with the same look.

Somehow that seems very on-brand for Klaus Schulze

Another site I used to frequent, Ursula Le Guin's official website. It's been supplanted by a more modern one, but the old one has been archived, thankfully. Here you can access both:

This is for the SF/fantasy aficionados out there.

So, related to the above post, I've been reading UKL a lot lately, and I've been consulting this site a lot. I forgot how great it was and now I can't believe I failed to include it in the thread earlier, because I remember using it a lot years ago. Incredibly comprehensive and useful info on various editions. I could spend hours just looking at the cover art.

The Internet Speculative Fiction Database

Here's an example of an author page: Ursula K. Le Guin. Check out the amazing amount of detail.

Bask in the glory that is the cover art page for The Left Hand of Darkness, one of the all-time most blessed books when it comes to the cover art.

Thanks a lot for sharing this website! I had wondered if a site like this existed for fiction literature in general, a sort of IMDB for books. This one is also great, and it covers my favourite genres.

You're welcome. I'm still amazed at the wealth of information it offers. A fun way to browse it is to go by cover artist or a particular piece of artwork and see all the books it's been used for.

If anyone's interested in some Emperor tabs that also have a 1.0 style, then look no further then this unofficial Emperor tabs site.

Analog Man is a pedal manufacturer which has a site that looks like it's a high schooler's HTML homework. Just take a look at the page for one of their pedals, King Of Tone:

Okay, take a look at the graphic on this page, using the Nightside artwork in the shape of a guitar:

https://www.angelfire.com/linux/emperor ... /test.html - this is exactly the sort of thing I like about Web 1.0 - cheap, tacky... but resourceful and full of spirit.

This is charming as well. Endorsed by Uli Jon Roth, of all people. Awesome. :D

Thanks, guys, I'm bookmarking this.

The Sabbatic Feast homepage. I emailed the address before Sean passed away but never heard back. R.I.P.

Their website in the bottom corner says: Reset December 31, 1997

I believe it because it doesn't list their 1999 album and.... just look at it! https://gortician.tripod.com/sabb1.htm

Thanks!

Here's another one I found:

The Illustrated David Bowie Discography

Pretty detailed with all the information, especially about the numerous confusing CD reissues over the years. Not sure how many people are aware of this, but Bowie's CD discography is a bit of a mess with subpar tapes and bad mastering jobs across the board. Seemingly every CD issue of every album has some problems.

Has anyone been checking the Internet Archive? I imagine there'd be some way to find those sites in the Archive, but it might only be the dead ones.

Heard about this one in a podcast, it won't hyperlink so you'll have to copy and paste if you want to visit: angels-heaven.org

I don't know exactly what Web 1.0 looks like cause I wasn't around at the time, but if this isn't it, I don't know what is. It's a Czech website that's been around since the 90's, made by one guy as far as I know, and it's full of crazy conspiracies about space angels and microchips. Like genuine schizo ramblings. Really crazy shit.

Found a really cool one a while ago: https://www.ghosttowns.com/

It's about Ghost Towns. According to the years at the bottom, it's been around since 1998. It has both the U.S. and Canada, and lists ghost towns in each state or province.

Funny enough, I actually had an interest of ghost towns a few years back, and this site brings me back to those times!

I was also somewhat interested in ghost towns in my state, that's how I found the site. Strangely, it was one of the first results after a google. I haven't visited anything yet but I might use the website if I decide to.

It's not exactly in your state, but if you're interested in ghost towns in general, maybe the Kayaköy/Livissi village would be interesting for you. It's a former Greek village in Southwest Turkey, whose inhabitants all fled to Greece or got killed in death marches during the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. The Turkish government then tried to resettle it, but no one wanted to live there, they all refused because they thought that the town was haunted by all the Greeks that got killed. It is still a ghost town to this day, although it has become a relatively big tourist attraction, and there's even a museum.

That's pretty fun! I grew up near Oatman, AZ, and always thought it was neat having a ghost town up in the mountains. Fun fact; the old gold mines there were recently mined again for a while using some new technology. Last I heard, it ran dry again.

You know those memes where someone looks at an old list of friends they made in their Xbox 360 and their status says "Last online: 8 years ago"? Well, I'm getting the exact same vibe looking at that last updated text... :(

One site I actually keep returning to is Always on the Run. A fan-hosted website with lyrics to the host’s favorite bands, claiming:

Quote:
Unlike many lyrics pages who copy & paste my site for the last 10 years, I have the label's authorization for many bands that appear on this page.
The bands have even sent them to me 'cause 75% of the lyrics didn't appear on the CD booklet.

So, apart from the lyrics themselves, being a curated list of artists by a person whose tastes overlap with mine, the site has proved a fantastic resource when looking for something new to listen to.

Found originally while looking for Dead Can Dance lyrics.

_____________

Roadkil.net provides some amazing free tools for Windows. Amongst them is Roadkil’s Unstoppable Copier, by far the best at recovering data from corruped/broken/dying disks.

Lots of other great goodies like Roadkil's Special Disk Maker
Quote:
This program is specially designed to force a flash card to be a 2GB FAT16 partition no matter its size. This program is for people using legacy devices which only understand FAT16 but are unable to format larger flash cards/devices to the FAT16 file system using current operating system versions.

A nice feature is that all the programs have a picture of a cat as their icon. There’s a dedicated page on the site to where those came from.

______________

Wiby is a browser that returns exclusively web 1.0 sites as results

Hey, thanks to everyone who has contributed to the thread since I last checked in, some great sites there.

Here's another one I remembered: The Jimi Hendrix Record Guide

This is a great resource for everyone who's interested in Hendrix's posthumous releases, which can be a nightmare to figure out, but contain some absolutely essential stuff. The site has great descriptions of what's actually on those albums.

In light of this thread taking off, I figured I'd bring this one back to plug in Virgin Steele's site if it hasn't already. Cheesy, but kind of interesting.
