Hi guys!

So I recently found out about this very unique Mongolian band, The Hu. Although they seem like a new band, they seem to be getting popular even among international listeners. They combine rock music (borderline heavy metal) with traditional instruments and the Mongolian throat singing. Also, it may just be me but the music almost sounded like Rammstein's to me.

Here is their song "Wolf Totem", and their other song, "Yuve Yuve Yu".

What's your opinion on their music?

They are very popular in Mongolia and the government itself paid the promotion on YouTube to have an international reach. Especially among people who listen to folk metal or folk music. I think that is the criterion of segmentation that they have followed because all my friends who know these Mongols are extreme fans of folk metal or folk music.

They are very good and I like the theme of their two songs, especially the first one (yuve yuve yu).

Yeah, I really dig Mongolian throat singing and listen to some other artists who do more traditionally styled music using the technique, and of course I like metal (and some rock) so I was interested when I saw this pop up somewhere on YouTube. Gave it a listen...not great. Not a good mix of sounds and the rock elements are pretty damn lame.
