I'm making this post to bring to you a possible goldmine for potential additions to the site. For the last year or so, I've been obsessed with the mp3.com Archive that's on archive.org, as it has over 200k songs from the website back when it was active. I had a friend of mine download the whole archive (or at least 2/3 of it, not really sure), and I ran a Python script on it to gather its metadata. This spreadsheet can be found in the next link:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... 6BMA2M9qs/

For a while I thought it was explicitly necessary to download the entire archive, which is over 2TB in size, in order to access the songs, but it turns out the entirety of it has been, well, archived and the songs can be downloaded directly off the internet through the wayback machine. An entire list with all the links to the songs can be found here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U1dmFN ... m2XiOgcCK/

In order to download a song off the archive, you just need to put the link into the Wayback Machine, or just put it after this URL: https://web.archive.org/web/20031224030444/

Use the spreadsheet to match filenames to what's on the text file. Be mindful that the spreadsheet is missing metadata for over 100k songs, either due to the downloadable archive being incomplete, or my friend not having downloaded the entire thing properly. The archive is divided in 2 parts and they can be downloaded from here:
https://archive.org/details/mp3com1

If anyone gets the entire thing, feel free to use this Python script I've made to gather the metadata from the entire archive, to make sure that the spreadsheet I've got is not incomplete:
https://github.com/VB6Enjoyer/mp3_list_to_xlsx

There is seemingly also an easier way to navigate the archive. Please, check this Reddit post if you'd like to know how:
https://www.reddit.com/r/lostmedia/comm ... m_archive/

Regarding bands in the archive, I've been able to find a few already, but the information on them is scarce, if existent at all to begin with. I've also been able to find songs by bands already on the site, so this can also help get more samples of obscure bands and get a better idea of their proper genre.

Please, feel free to discuss your findings in the comments to this thread, or ask any questions.
